LIBRARY POLICIES

GOAL:

  • The goal of the library is to put a book in every child’s hand.

MISSION STATEMENT:

  • Our mission is to create a welcoming environment where students are empowered to become readers and effective users of ideas, information, and technology.

CLASS PERIODS:

  • Government Hill students attend library class once each week. Library lessons are based on the Anchorage School District’s Library Standards. The library is also available throughout the day for students to access information.

CHECKING OUT BOOKS:

  • Book checkout time is provided during library classes and open checkout periods during the week.

STUDENT LIBRARY ACCOUNTS:

  • All students have individual library accounts. These accounts allow students to checkout books, renew checkouts and place titles on hold for future borrowing.

OVERDUE BOOKS:

  • Students need to return materials in a timely manner so other patrons will have access to the materials.

LOST/DAMAGED BOOKS:

  • We understand that occasionally library materials are misplaced or damaged. When items are lost or damaged beyond repair, students may pay off their library fine by completing work in the library. They may also replace the book.
